First, let me welcome you to 2013, by saying a very Happy New Year.
Before we begin to explore this week’s dispatch, I will be announcing a brand new initiative towards the end this missive, so make sure you read all about it.
As 2012 drew to a close, I found myself looking back with complete frustration. Various people I talked to over the year, as well as continual press articles, demonstrated how tough the economy has been.
The grey clouds of gloom and doom continually threatening to rain on our parade.
I’ve decided that enough is enough. I don’t want grey clouds. I want sunshine and warm breezes.
I am going to follow the lead of Sam Walton (founder of Wal-Mart). When he was asked about the recession a few decades back, his response was brilliant: “I thought about it and decided not to take part.”
I am therefore no longer taking part in a down-sliding economy. I am standing up and I am going to kick it square in the pants.
More importantly, with this information you will be empowered to smash any predictions of lower revenues, sales, profits, etc.
Over the coming weeks and months, I intend researching the top issues in business today. I am also going to devise potential solutions, by uncovering tried and tested methods already employed.
Furthermore, I shall write about these in my weekly address, delivering to you methods you can engage to improve your situation.
I intend to cover a host of different topics, to include, but not limited to:
- Economic uncertainty
- The right people for the right role
- Cash flow
- Changing regulations
- Diversity
- Complexity to market
- Supply Chains
- Innovation
But business is more than just an infrastructure. It is made up of men and women who each will have their own demons / issues to battle. Without these men and women, business could not operate.
I am therefore also going to include personal topics, to enable you and those around you to become a better and more productive individual.
As an example, topics will include:
- Stress
- Lack of confidence
- Lack of self-worth
- Inability to say no
- Regrets
- Frustration and anger
- Dissatisfaction
If you have any issues you would like me to address, research and write about, then please let me know by sending me an email to enquiries@opslc.com.
You can be as random or as detailed as you like and of course all responses / publications will be completely anonymous. At no stage will your name or that of your business become public knowledge, unless approved by yourself – that you have my word on.
2013 is going to rock. We are going to defy all the doom merchants, succeeding in business and personal growth.
I am very much looking forward to sharing this journey with you.

A good positive start to the year Dan, I like it!
Your Expert Interview initiative sounds interesting and I was intrigued by the phrase ‘or their relevant industry’ Are you thinking of interviewing people from the charity sector, or even someone like Claire Wood from the church, as well as those in business? This would highlight that success is not always to be measured financially perhaps.
All the best,
Andrew

Hello Andrew,
Glad you liked it. I’m going to ensure 2013 rocks for me and all my readers – the doom merchants can follow the road to destruction, I’ll follow another path.
In regards to the Expert Interview, the answer is yes, I will interview experts across all functions, including Charities and Religious institutions. The aim is to provide valuable insight for our readers. I would be delighted to interview both yourself and Clare.
Kindest Regards,
Dan
Excellent post! Encouraging, refreshing and full of positive energy! This is the way to go during this year.
I could not agree with you more Florentino – a positive push forward will deliver results more than a negative outlook. I’m on a one man mission to turn results around and get everyone generating success.
